Enterprise Kanban Coach – Crash Course

In this 5-day masterclass, you will learn how to help others to effectively introduce, design, operate and improve Kanban systems in different levels of an organization. The class combines the What, Why and How to of Kanban coaching: What is Enterprise Kanban about? How do I build and grow Kanban systems to an enterprise scale? What do I have to do to build and sustain beneficial relationships with customers and stakeholders? Where do I start in order to create a culture of continuous improvement? Why does it pay off to encourage self-organization on all levels?

Class Objective

This masterclass provides actionable answers to these questions. Building on their rich experience of many agile initiatives in many enterprises, Klaus and Sigi set the following four building blocks:

  • Coaching fundamentals: Understand the system and environment of the person you are coaching, smooth the path for evolutionary change and clarify expectations as well as responsibilities.
  • System Design: Design effective work systems at an enterprise scale.
  • Social Feedback Loops: Establish a cadence of meetings, lead social interaction, facilitate peer coaching, evaluate your coaching and learn more about yourself.
  • Technical Feedback Loops: Operate, improve, and scale Kanban systems with metrics as well as socio-economic considerations and models.

Since your coaching capabilities will not improve by looking at smart slides, the emphasis is placed on doing in this class. That´s why we

  • Use real-life examples to examine the variety of systems an Enterprise Kanban Coach has to deal with.
  • Encourage attendees to bring their own cases to the training.
  • Emphasize practical learning by trying things out, providing and getting feedback, learning and improving.
  • Illustrate models, maps and tools.
  • Transfer classroom learnings to your own working environment on a continuous basis.
  • Work as a pair of trainers throughout the class in order to provide as much individual guidance as possible.

What is the difference between EKC and EKC Crash Course?

The regular Enterprise Kanban Coach training takes 12 days, which are distributed over half-year timeframe. In this intensive training, we accompany participants on their development towards becoming Enterprise Kanban Coaches over a longer period of time, and especially focus on transferring what is learned to their real-life work. At the EKC Crash Course (EKC-CC), we cannot provide this intensive and long-lasting support because the training takes place in a single five-day block. However, to ensure optimal support during the training, Klaus and Sigi facilitate all five days as double act. That’s why the EKC-CC is geared towards consultants and practitioners who want to learn the fundamentals of enterprise Kanban coaching in a very short period of time.

  • Solid Kanban knowledge and experience. Please note: The focus of this training is not to learn more about Kanban, but to build on the existing knowledge of participants, thus enabling them to coach Kanban initiatives at an enterprise scale

Klaus Leopold is computer scientist and Kanban pioneer with many years of experience in helping organizations from different industries on their improvement journey with Lean and Kanban. He is author of the book Practical Kanban and co-author of the book “Kanban Change Leadership”. His main interest is establishing lean business agility by improving organizations beyond the team level, especially in large environments from 50 to 5000 people. sigiSiegfried „Sigi“ Kaltenecker is the joint managing director of Loop Consultancy, specialising in Agile Change and Self-Organisation. As Systemic Organisation Developer, Certified Scrum Master and Kanban Coaching Professional Sigi has already been involved with many international companies such as bwin.party, Magna International, Raiffeisen, T-Systems or Swiss Railways. The broad variety of practical experience is also the backbone of his books on Kanban Change Leadership (together with Klaus Leopold), Leading Self-Organising Teams and Self-Organising Enterprises.

Certification: KCP Masterclass

Training as an Enterprise Kanban Coach is recognized by the LeanKanban University (LKU) as a KCP Masterclass. This means after completing the class, at least 6 months of verifiable practice in a corresponding Kanban initiative, the existing KMP title (Kanban Management Professional) and a written essay participants CAN apply for a KCP interview. After passing the exam you have to pay $ 1,000 initiation fee directly to LeanKanban University.
